Hardware Fixes
Depending on who you talked to through the years, some may favor AMD while others are die hard Intel fans. Six or Seven years ago I may have given you a different answer to this question. Today, what I would tell you is by all means buy the Intel machine. While there is nothing particularly wrong with AMD processers, AMD machines tend to be more buggy than Intel based machines.
When shopping for a new laptop or desktop what you will find is the AMD machines will be the least expensive. This has almost always been the case. If budget is your primary concern when making your purchase then give AMD a try. However, if you want the most dependable, fastest, most compatible computer, stick with the Intel machines. It has been my experience they are the best processor for the money. Ever hear of “You get what you pay for?”

Hardware Fixes,
Mal-Ware Removal
I have found that many times computers will have multiple problems. Just when you think you have it diagnosed part of the issue won’t go away. That was the problem with a recent fix on this Dell Dimension. So deeply infected with spyware/mal-ware, I recommended a complete reload. The owner agreed and so the fix was on. After the re-load and subsequent updates, I began having one of the problems occur again.
Once deciding that spyware/mal-ware was no longer the culprit, I decided to dig a little deeper. turns out the constant “application ended abnormally” message was due to the memory needing re-seating. I pulled the side off the computer, popped the memory out and back in… Viola! The errors went away. Really feels good to figure out what seems impossible at times.
